MNE Ambassadors also help around the advising office with various projects, and they represent the MNE department in recruitment and departmental events.
Why become an MNE Ambassador?

MNE Ambassadors take pride in sharing their K-State experience with prospective students on campus tours and recruitment events. These are paid positions that provide real-world work experience.
Current MNE Ambassadors
Yulissa BanuelosSenior in Mechanical Engineering with Management Minor I love meeting prospective students and being able to help around the MNE department wherever I can! I'm involved with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Through SHPE, I’ve been able to travel to places like Orlando and Denver to conferences and increase my professional development skills. |

Alex CavanaughSophomore in Mechanical Engineering with the Nuclear Engineering Option Being able to introduce potential students to the MNE department, which I am passionate about, has been extremely rewarding. Becoming more connected with the College of Engineering has enabled me to network more effectively with my peers and has opened opportunities for me outside of the department. I chose K-State because of the amazing opportunities in Nuclear Engineering. Being able to attend a university with a research reactor is an incredible opportunity that I could not pass up. |

Sophia FentonSophomore in Mechanical Engineering Getting to know the incredible MNE faculty better and being able to encourage perspective students to pursue their passions and join the Wildcat family is my heart behind being an ambassador. I cherish being a part of the K-State Marching Band and experiencing the game day energy at The Bill. K-State takes "school spirit" to a whole new level and creates a fun and memorable atmosphere. |
|
Joe KappelmannFreshman in Mechanical Engineering I relish the opportunity to lead others to become a Wildcat by sharing my personal experiences at K-State. It brings me immense joy that I have an impact on future students' college decision. Becoming an MNE Ambassador is the perfect opportunity to develop professional skills while still being able to focus on academics. I'm active in the Acacia Fraternity, where I participate in philanthropic endeavors. I enjoy competing on intramural teams and contributing to various ministries at St. Isidores, serving on the Service Leadership Team, the Retreat Team, along with other roles. I am the first in my family to choose K-State, and I absolutely love it. |

Lacy MathesSenior in Mechanical Engineering Becoming more involved with the College of Engineering has been a truly rewarding experience for me. This role has opened up numerous opportunities to connect with advisors, professors, and fellow students, allowing me to build a strong network within and beyond the department. Having both parents and an older sibling who are K-State alumni, it was an obvious decision for me to attend K-State. Since being here, I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Manhattan area, getting to know our campus, and actively engaging in Greek life. |

Lily MossFreshman in Mechanical Engineering Learning about all the opportunities the MNE department has for students is a big motivator for me. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of the resources on campus as well as learning more about them. I chose K-State because of the welcoming atmosphere and plethora of extracurricular opportunities. As a first generation student, I found many connections on campus that were specialized to students like me. Along with my first-gen involvement I am also active in the music program. From design teams to clubs, K-State stands out because of the opportunities not only in the classroom, but also involvement outside of the classroom. |
|
Jared RickeFreshman in Mechanical Engineering I value actively contributing to and fostering the growth of a program I am passionate about. It also facilitates networking opportunities with individuals both within and outside the department. There is a wealth of knowledge others can share, the significance of attentive listening and posing insightful questions cannot be overstated. Attending the Career Fair as freshman was an exhilarating experience. Engaging with employers about their recruitment criteria and the internship application process was both thrilling and enlightening. |
